"David McCamant paints in the Chiaroscuro tradition of the early Dutch and Flemish masters particularly that of Rembrandt.  David is intrigued by the relationship of the quality of light and the objects observed.  Both a student of of light and instructor of composition, David guides his students in the ancient application of Dynamic Symmetry to infuse their work with the powerful dynamics of the natural world.  Always pushing himself forward, David strives to maintain the abstraction of realist painting while communicating dimensionality and illumination.

Born in Reno, Nevada, McComant began his personal work during his long successful career as a commercial artist, illustrator, art director, creative director, animator, animation producer and director.  David trained himself in the artistic disciplines for most of his life until almost 3 years ago when he met his mentor and master painter Brian Davis.  Since then, Mr. Davis has been responsible for David's tremendous artistic growth.  Through him, David has studied the works of countless great artists including, Emile Gruppe, Trevor Chamberlain, Richard Schmidt and the incomparable David A. Leffel to name a few.  Mr. McCamant's work has been published in Art Business News and can be found in private collections in both the USA and Europe.  A recipient of thirty-seven professional awards, David is currently writing an instruction book about his experiences and encouraging students through his workshops."
