"For his entire life, Barry Rowe has been immersed in the world of motoring. Spending his formative years in the automotive city of Coventry, England, he studied graphic design and became an advertising art director.

However, his passion for automobiles won through as he began to spend more time on automotive illustration. In 1966 he took the decision to make his living as a freelance illustrator - a path he followed for almost 30 years.

Barry's career as a full-time painter began when he won the prestigious Sotheby's Art Award in 1994 for this portrait of 5 times World champion; Fangio.

This competition success brought his work to the attention of both private collectors and corporate clients and numerous commissions soon followed.

In recent years his clients have included Louis Vuitton of Paris, The Royal Mail, Royal Doulton and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. His paintings can now be found in private and public collections all across Europe and the United States.

Barry says he fell in love with cars as a young boy when his father worked for Jaguar during the C-Type and D-Type era. Over the years he has owned many interesting cars himself with his favourites being a 1931 supercharged Lagonda, a Riley Nine Tourer from 1929 and a modern Morgan.

Fascinated with the expression of light and atmosphere, Barry almost always includes people in his automotive paintings, treating his pictures as art rather than mere illustrations of cars." Note: Biography supplied by the artist.
